A Conversation

“Hey, listen,” Eddie says. “What are you doing this Sunday?”

Dad’s eyes narrow. “I don’t know,” he says. “What am I doing this Sunday?”

“You’re coming to the Red Brick Church to hear me Testify,” Eddie says.

Dad laughs and shakes his head. “Now that,” he says, “I’m going to enjoy.”

This conversation between Eddie and Billy’s dad is found on page 172. I picked it because I think it shows how much more confident Eddie has become. This conversation also shows that Eddie has gotten some of his humor back since the deaths of Billy and his father. In this conversation it shows how close Eddie and Billy’s father have become, it also shows that Eddie does not want to testify and Billy’s dad knows it.
